Professional Affiliations
I am an Associate Member of the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (N.C.H.P); the General Hypnotherapy Register (G.H.R), and British Psychological Society (B.P.S.) adhering to their codes of ethics at all times and am covered by their Indemnity Insurance.
Qualifications and Background
I have been a psychologist with a special interest in hypnosis and related areas for over 12 years. I hold degrees in psychology, philosophy and psychiatric theory and am in the middle of Doctoral research conducted at Birkbeck College London.
My therapeutic orientation could best be described as Ericksonian, NLP and Cognitive-Behavioural but I am well versed in Rogerian, Freudian, Gestalt and similar approaches.
What I can help with
Addictions, with a special interest in smoking cessation. I aim to do this in a single session and to help you actually enjoy the process of stopping being enslaved to tobacco.
Other addictions that respond well to hypnotherapy include alcohol and other drugs. These frequently require multiple sessions but the satisfaction of freedom is even greater!
Phobias. All sorts but especially the “big” ones related to spiders, heights, confined spaces, flying. These all respond very successfully to hypnotherapy.
Sporting performance. Including losses of confidence or “plateauing” of performance. I used to compete at national level in a combat sport and am very familiar with the special needs of sporting psychology.
Sexual problems, impotence, frigidity, loss of confidence and similar.
Habits- nail biting and other seemingly intractable irritations.
Weight-Loss- To help making any weight-loss programme attainable and satisfying.
Confidence and Self-esteem. Hypnotherapy is very powerful in helping achieve one’s goals. Exams, public speaking, even dating can all be made enjoyable.
What I don’t do.
Past life regression. Body augmentation. Anything to do with auras, crystals or similar. I can only do what I am committed to and fully believe in. If you are interested in any of these areas I will happily refer you to colleagues who share those interests.
Fees
A session costs £90 for an hour which includes the consultation.
Smoking cessation is done in a special one-off session lasting about hour and a half for £140. In the unlikely event of your starting to smoke again within the month following your visit, I will include a free follow-up session of an hour within this time.
What to Expect
An initial consultation during which whatever your presenting issue is will be discussed non-judgementally and in the strictest confidence.
The process of hypnosis will be explained and only then, when you have had any questions answered to your satisfaction, will you decide whether or not you wish to proceed.
It will then be decided between us how many sessions are likely to be needed. For many conditions (especially smoking) I take pride in treating the majority in a single session. My approach is goal-driven; I aim, through hypnotherapy, to help put you in the driving seat so that you can solve your problem and feel appropriate satisfaction for so doing.
I use a variety of hypnotic techniques which will be tailored to your individual needs. The process of hypnotherapy itself will take about forty minutes during which time you will not lose consciousness or control. Clients invariably report a relaxed, pleasant experience sometimes a little similar to meditation or daydreaming. The time typically seems to fly by!
